Chemnitz, 30 km east, is marked by its monumental Karl Marx bust. Annaberg-Buchholz carries on the Ore Mountains crafts, from Schwibbogen light arches to painted nutcrackers. Dresden and its Baroque treasures lie 80 km east. The Czech border and the spa town of Karlovy Vary open up 30 km south.
