Base US Karting

In Étrechet, in the Indre, Base US Karting sets up its complex combining an indoor track and an outdoor layout on the site of a former American military base, in the eastern suburbs of Châteauroux. The dual configuration lets you drive whatever the weather, and the unusual origin of the site (heritage of the US NATO presence in the 1950s-60s) gives it a particular atmosphere that breaks from urban karting. It has become a local reference for Châteauroux residents heading out with friends and travellers on the A20.

The layout combines two complementary atmospheres across its 700 metres. The indoor hall offers a regular surface that favours rhythmic sequences and precise lines; the outdoor extension brings the more authentic feel of open-air karting. Several kart engine sizes are available depending on driver level, from entry-level models for younger drivers to punchier versions for regulars chasing timed sessions. With sessions starting at €1, the entry rate stays very accessible for family initiation runs. The site regularly hosts birthday parties, stag and hen parties, and group events.

Étrechet is ten minutes from central Châteauroux and an hour from Tours via the A20. The region offers plenty to extend the visit: the Brenne and its ponds (regional park), Notre-Dame de Fontgombault abbey, Argenton-sur-Creuse and the Creuse valley, or a detour to George Sand at Nohant. A useful stop on the Paris-Limoges-Toulouse axis for travellers in transit, and a solid option for Indre residents.
