First Kart'Inn

In Machelen, between Brussels and Zaventem airport, First Kart'Inn has been running karts since 1993, which makes it the first indoor karting track in Belgium. The circuit combines a covered layout of four hundred and fifty metres and an outdoor loop of two hundred and fifty metres, about seven hundred metres in all, on petrol karts with four-stroke Honda two-hundred-and-seventy-cc engines that reach around fifty kilometres per hour.

The venue takes safety seriously, with Formula 1-style tyre barriers and a modular layout, regularly reconfigured to keep the fun fresh. The fleet counts more than seventy karts, from bambino models to race karts, with a supervised driving school for children and a live timing display. On Wednesdays, the FKI Racing Club holds competition nights among regulars.

Machelen lies north-east of Brussels, in a business area close to the airport and the main routes, easy to reach from the capital. The track runs all year, with an outdoor section open at weekends when the weather allows. First Kart'Inn stands as a pioneer of Belgian indoor karting, and remains a reference for anyone after a real circuit on the doorstep of Brussels, whether to start out or to prepare for a race.
