Gokarty PitStop-Gdańsk

PitStop claims the largest go-kart layout in the Gdańsk area: 900 metres of track across a surface of 9300 m², up to nine metres wide in places. That leaves room to open up through the long curves and work on your overtaking without getting in each other's way. The centre plays the versatility card with two kinds of karts: combustion models for the growl and the torque, and electric ones for quiet, fume-free driving. Younger and older drivers both find a kart to suit them.

The site is built for a full day out. You string together timed sessions, compare laps on the board and replay the race back in the pits. The format works just as well for a group of friends, a stag party or a company event. The track runs for much of the year, with extended summer hours from 10am to 9pm in peak season. Helmet provided and a briefing before you set off, so you simply arrive, gear up and head out. The address, next to the Lechia stadium, is easy to reach by car or public transport.

Gdańsk is well worth a longer visit. The old town, the historic harbour crane on the Motława, the Neptune fountain and the amber shops make up one of the most photogenic centres on the Baltic. A few minutes away, the Westerplatte peninsula recalls the port's history, while Oliwa cathedral surprises with its grand organ. The beaches of Brzeźno and Sopot beckon as soon as the weather turns, and the Tricity (Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia) makes a complete playground.
