Halfway Karting
About
In Burnfoot, on the Inishowen peninsula in County Donegal, the Halfway Karting lays out a recently extended open-air circuit, combining fast straights, technical corners and a chicane to test the most seasoned drivers. The fleet, Sodi GT5 karts powered by Honda engines, offers senior karts of one hundred and seventy-five cubic centimetres able to reach around eighty kilometres per hour. It is one of the newest circuits in the north-west of Ireland.
The site is not limited to karting: there is also Micra car racing and a 4x4 off-road course, enough to vary the thrills. The senior karts are aimed at drivers of sixteen and over, the juniors at children at least one metre twenty tall. The place welcomes families, birthdays, stag and hen parties as well as corporate outings, in a sporting and friendly setting. The variety of activities, from karting to Micra racing by way of off-road driving, makes the site a destination in its own right for a day in a group, in a wild corner of north-west Ireland bordered by the Atlantic ocean.
Burnfoot lies at the gateway to Inishowen, the largest peninsula in Ireland, a few minutes from Buncrana and Letterkenny and close to the Northern Irish border. All around, the Wild Atlantic Way route leads up to Malin Head, the northernmost point of the island. At the heart of County Donegal, the Halfway Karting adds a dose of open-air motorsport, in the warm season.
