Kartódromo Cabo Do Mundo

In Perafita, on the coast near Porto, the Cabo do Mundo kartódromo runs an outdoor layout a short way from the Atlantic. You drive petrol-engined CRG karts, from Centurion models of three hundred and ninety cubic centimetres to Sodi of two hundred and seventy, along with mini-karts and two-seaters for the youngest. It is one of the gathering points for speed lovers in the Porto region.

Karting stays open to everyone, no licence or experience needed: a briefing, a helmet, and off you go chasing your best lap. The adult karts are driven from age twelve, while the mini-karts and two-seaters take children subject to availability, mostly on weekdays. The track is open Tuesday to Sunday, with a break in early afternoon, so it pays to check the hours before coming. People happily return to beat their time.

Perafita belongs to the municipality of Matosinhos, on the coast north of Porto, a region known for its fishing harbour and its grilled-fish restaurants. Nearby, the Atlantic beaches, the port of Leixões and the city of Porto, with its UNESCO-listed Douro quays, make up a rich setting between sea and heritage. The region is easily reached by motorway or metro from Porto, in about twenty minutes.
