Kartodromo Orsoleo

In the heart of the Lucanian hills, in Roccanova in the province of Potenza in Basilicata, the Kartodromo Orsoleo - Circuito Nazionale runs an outdoor track on a national-grade site recognised by the Italian karting federation. The site sits in a rural setting typical of inland Basilicata: wooded hills, calanchi, olive groves and the first Apennine heights. It is one of the benchmark karting layouts in southern Italy, a favourite with experienced drivers and a host of national championships.

The outdoor format stretches over 780 metres, a generous technical layout suited to adult and experienced drivers, in the motorsport spirit of the site (FIA Circuito Nazionale). Several engine sizes are available, from beginner karts for kids to higher-powered versions for regulars used to timed sessions. Conditions follow the Lucanian continental climate: drier and faster in summer, more demanding on rainy autumn days and cold winter ones. The site hosts enthusiast sessions, motorsport-focused stag and hen groups, high-end corporate events and national championships.

Roccanova is an hour and a half from Potenza, an hour and a quarter from Matera and two hours from Taranto. The region offers plenty more to see: Matera and the Sassi UNESCO (European Capital of Culture 2019), the calanchi of Aliano, the Pollino National Park, Sant'Arcangelo and Senise (the capital of peperone crusco crispy pepper), Metaponto and its Greek archaeological sites, or a side trip to the Lucanian Ionian coast. Karting at Orsoleo is a premium option for Italian enthusiasts making the trip to one of the national karting layouts in southern Italy.
