Kartódromo regional de Mirandela

In Mirandela, in the Trás-os-Montes region of north-eastern Portugal, the regional kartódromo runs an outdoor layout of six hundred metres, set near the municipal aerodrome. The track has a dozen karts, half of them reserved for children up to fourteen, which makes it an outing open to the whole family. People come to string together timed laps in an open setting of mountain and countryside.

Karting stays open to everyone, no licence or experience needed: a briefing, a helmet, and off you go chasing your best lap. The karts suited to the youngest make it a venue loved by families, while more seasoned drivers can polish their lines on the layout. People come to challenge their friends, and happily return to beat their time. As the track is outdoors, it is best to check the hours before coming.

Mirandela is a pretty town in Trás-os-Montes, crossed by the Tua river and famous for its long arched bridge spanning the water. The region, hilly and sun-soaked, is known for its local produce, including the famous alheira, a traditional sausage born here, and its olive groves. The surrounding mountains and valleys invite walks. Known for its sunny climate and easy pace, Mirandela is a pleasant stop deep in the inland country. Mirandela is reached by motorway from Bragança or Vila Real.
