Kartódromo Tortosendo - Beirakart

In Tortosendo, near Covilhã at the foot of the Serra da Estrela, Beirakart runs an outdoor layout of seven hundred metres in perimeter. You drive in the open air, in a Beira Baixa mountain setting, which makes it one of the main karting spots in east-central Portugal. The track welcomes families and groups for timed sessions, a short way from the slopes of the country's highest range.

Karting stays open to everyone, no licence or experience needed: a briefing, a helmet, and off you go chasing your best lap. The format suits beginners giving it a try as well as more seasoned drivers set on testing themselves against the clock, and people happily return to beat their time. Covilhã is a town in central Portugal, clinging to the foothills of the Serra da Estrela, long nicknamed the Portuguese Manchester for its wool industry. Now a lively university town, it is the main gateway to the Torre ski resort and the snowy peaks. Nearby, the Fundão region is known for its cherries and its schist villages. Its snowy slopes and stone villages make it a popular destination for much of the year. Covilhã is reached by motorway from Castelo Branco or Guarda.
