Kemin Karting Center Oy

In Kemi, on the Gulf of Bothnia coast, the Kemin Karting Center is billed as the only indoor karting track in northern Finland. You drive electric karts here: eight adult models split across three speed levels, and three children's karts with two paces, which lets you match the power to each driver. The indoor track works all year, a real asset in a region where winter is long and harsh.

Electric karting has the advantage of being quiet and odourless, and the different speed levels make the activity open to families as much as to more experienced drivers. The centre runs mainly at the weekend, from Thursday to Saturday, with self-service access for individual sessions and bookings for private events. On site, a sauna, private cabins and a games room round off the visit.

Kemi is known for its snow castle, the LumiLinna, rebuilt every winter, and for its setting by a sea that freezes in the cold season, crossed by a tourist icebreaker. The town is a stop on the road to Lapland, and the karting offers an indoor activity when the Arctic climate makes itself felt. It is a good plan for families passing through the far north, between two winter discoveries. Rovaniemi and central Lapland lie about an hour and a half's drive north, which makes Kemi a handy stop on the way to the far north.
