KIRO - Kartódromo Internacional da Região Oeste
About
In Bombarral, in the Oeste region north of Lisbon, KIRO is a large international kartódromo: an outdoor layout of twelve hundred and twenty-five metres, one of the longest and fastest in the country. You drive in the open air on a track built for racing, which welcomes seasoned drivers as well as groups giving it a try. The length of the circuit leaves real room to overtake and polish your lines.
Karting stays open to everyone, no licence or experience needed: a briefing, a helmet, and off you go chasing your best lap. The site runs to the rhythm of training, rentals and major races, in the great tradition of Portuguese karting. The hours vary between winter and summer, wider in the tourist season, so it pays to check before coming. People happily return to beat their time, stopwatch in hand.
Bombarral is a small town in the Oeste region, in a countryside of hills north of Lisbon. Nearby, the Buddha Eden garden, one of Europe's largest sculpture gardens, and the medieval walled village of Óbidos, with its white lanes and ramparts, are among the most visited sights in the region. The Atlantic beaches and the spa town of Caldas da Rainha are minutes away. Bombarral is easily reached by motorway from Lisbon, in about an hour.
