Kongsberg Motorsenter / NMK Kongsberg
About
In Kongsberg, the Kongsberg Motorsenter is the karting track of the NMK Kongsberg club. The outdoor layout unrolls a little over a thousand metres of asphalt, one of the longest in the region, enough to drive fast and refine your lines on a real club circuit. The place welcomes drivers of all classes, from the smallest on the Mini and Cadetti to adults, for training as well as competition.
The track opens to the public from the start of May, with slots on Tuesday evenings and Saturday daytime, in a club mood where the taste for driving is shared. Young drivers cut their teeth there under the eye of the more experienced, which makes it a real nursery of local motorsport. The season follows the rhythm of the Norwegian spring and summer.
Kongsberg is a former mining town in the Numedal valley, famous for its royal silver mines, one of the great sites of Norwegian industrial heritage, and for its imposing Baroque church. The forests and rivers around round out the setting. The Kongsberg Motorsenter adds a dose of club karting there, welcome in this history-laden town south-west of Oslo.
The youth classes, from Mini to Cadetti, make the track a real training ground for future drivers, coached by the club. The season follows the published calendar, with regular slots in the evening and at the weekend. Kongsberg, with its listed silver mines and its historic centre, deserves a visit of its own, which lets you combine culture and motorsport in a single day south-west of Oslo.
