Speed kart

In Lepenou, in Aetolia-Acarnania in western mainland Greece, the Speed Kart lays out an open-air karting track of six hundred and ninety metres, seven metres wide. Billed as one of the loveliest and most modern in the region, it welcomes karts of different categories suited to all ages, from children to adults. A helmet is required, and the first laps serve to warm the tyres before attacking in earnest.

The track lies at the fifteenth kilometre of the Agrinio-Amphilochia national road, a quarter of an hour from Agrinio, which makes it an easy outing for the whole region. People come with family or friends for a few timed heats, in a relaxed provincial mood. It is also a place to teach the youngest the basic rules of driving, in a safe setting.

Aetolia-Acarnania is a green, mountainous region of western Greece, marked by Lake Trichonida, the largest in the country, and by the town of Agrinio amid its plains of tobacco and olive trees. The area, away from the great tourist flows, appeals through its landscapes and its lakes. The Speed Kart adds a dose of open-air motorsport, welcome for an active outing away from the coast. Halfway between the Ionian Sea and the inland mountains, the track enjoys a mild climate that allows driving much of the year, and its modern layout makes it a rallying point for karting fans from all of western mainland Greece.
