Unokarting

In Ciuperceni, in Satu Mare County in north-western Romania, the Unokarting lays out an outdoor track of eight hundred and sixty metres, opened in two thousand and sixteen after an investment of about half a million euros. Conceived by an enthusiast from the Oaș Country, it aimed from the start to offer a real karting attraction in the north-west of the country, for children as well as for keen drivers.

The layout suits a first taste just as well as enthusiasts out to string laps together on a track to their measure. Owners of their own kart can rent the track by the day, which makes it a gathering point for the region's fans. The outdoor format and the length of the circuit leave room to build up speed and work on braking, far from small urban tracks.

Ciuperceni lies in the Oaș Country, a region of hills in the north-west of Transylvania, near the Hungarian and Ukrainian borders. Satu Mare, the large neighbouring town, and the green landscapes of the northern Carpathians round out the setting. The Unokarting adds a welcome dose of motorsport to this still-preserved part of the country.

Born of the passion of a local who left to work abroad, the project above all aimed to give the north-west a real track, open to families as well as competitors. The day rental for equipped drivers makes it a regular meeting place. The Oaș Country, known for its traditions and colourful costumes, and the town of Satu Mare pleasantly extend the visit to this border region.
