Outdoor 865-metre kart circuit, dedicated to club racing. For owner-drivers only: the venue does not offer corporate karting or public arrive-and-drive hire. Classes catered for: Bambino, Cadet, Junior, Senior Rotax, X30, ProKart and electric. Minimum age 6. The circuit also hosts rounds of the Rookie Racing arrive-and-drive championship. Wombwell is a former mining town in South Yorkshire, in the Dearne Valley, near Barnsley. The area's industrial heritage can be explored at the Elsecar Heritage Centre, which keeps a Newcomen beam engine in situ, one of the oldest in the world still on its original site. Wentworth Woodhouse, one of the largest private houses in England with a facade of some 180 metres, stands nearby. Barnsley, a market town, to the north-west. The Peak District and its national park spread to the west. Sheffield 15 km south and Leeds to the north are quickly reached. The Trans Pennine Trail crosses the valley for cyclists and walkers.
