Åmål Hyrcart

In Tösse, near Åmål in Dalsland, Åmål Hyrcart runs an outdoor track of six hundred and fifty metres not far from Lake Vänern, Sweden's largest lake. The length of the layout leaves real room to overtake and build up speed, and you drive outdoors in a nature setting, away from the big cities. It is a friendly spot that even has a barbecue set up beside the track to stretch out the outing.

Karting stays open to everyone, no licence or experience needed: a briefing, a helmet, and off you go chasing your best lap. The venue offers drop-in, timed races and grands prix, enough to please the curious giving it a try as well as groups out to challenge each other. It is an activity open to young and old alike, and people happily return to beat their time. As the track is outdoors, it is best to check the hours before coming.

Åmål is a small Dalsland town set on the shore of Lake Vänern, a vast inland stretch of water with the feel of a sea, dotted with islands and edged with beaches. The region, made of lakes, forests and the famous Dalsland Canal, is one of the wildest in southern Sweden, popular with canoeing and outdoor lovers. Åmål, known for its film festival and its old wooden centre by the water, is reached by road or train on the line linking Gothenburg to Karlstad.
