Circuitul Skat Kart
About
In Târgu Secuiesc, in Covasna County at the heart of the Székely Land, the Circuitul Skat Kart unrolls out a long ribbon of asphalt of one thousand four hundred and thirty-one metres, eight to ten metres wide, run clockwise. It is one of the largest outdoor layouts in Transylvania, homologated and open to karting as well as motorcycles, which makes it a real playground for anyone who loves stringing together fast curves.
Sessions run in stints of about ten minutes, enough to find your bearings then attack once the racing line is clear in your head. The width of the track leaves room to overtake and fight wheel to wheel, and the length of the layout makes a change from small urban tracks: here you have time to build up speed and work on your braking. Gear is provided on site and groups are welcome.
Târgu Secuiesc, a town of Székely tradition at the foot of the Eastern Carpathians, serves as a base for fine trips: Saint Anne's Lake, the only volcanic crater left intact in Central Europe, lies a short way off, and Brașov stays within reach for a day out. The Circuitul Skat Kart adds a dose of motorsport to this green, mountainous region of eastern Transylvania.
The track opens every day, from ten in the morning to six in the evening, and also hosts drift sessions and racing simulators during events. It is among the circuits recognised by the Romanian Karting Federation, a sign of a serious, well-kept layout. The area, of both Hungarian and Romanian tradition, keeps a strong regional character in this part of the Carpathians.
