Coronel Kartracing
About
In Huizen, by the IJsselmeer, Coronel Kartracing is an indoor karting track founded in 1995 by the Coronel family, home to racing drivers Tim and Tom Coronel, well known in Dutch motorsport. You drive fully electric karts here, in a large hall that makes the place a full leisure centre rather than just a track.
Sessions last about ten minutes for adults, open from age twelve and a height of one metre fifty-eight, and a little less for children, from age eight and one metre thirty. Around the track, the complex offers many other activities: escape rooms, a laser game over a thousand square metres, a climbing wall, virtual reality, glow-in-the-dark minigolf and bowling. Enough to keep a group or a family busy for a whole day, whatever the weather.
Huizen is a town in the Gooi region, known for its green, residential setting, about thirty kilometres from Amsterdam. The shore of the IJsselmeer, a vast inland lake born from the former Zuiderzee, lends itself to walks and water activities. Coronel's covered track adds a sporting touch open all year, easy to reach from the Dutch capital. The Coronel name remains tied to endurance racing and the World Touring Car Championship, which gives the place real sporting credibility. It is a handy spot for an indoor outing in the Amsterdam area, with family as with colleagues.
