Kartcentrum Lelystad

In Lelystad, the capital of Flevoland, Kartcentrum Lelystad is an open-air karting track, set on Talingweg away from the centre. You drive outdoors on hire karts, with a minimum height of one metre fifty-five to take the start of races; "karting is something you do outside", as the venue puts it. The mood leans towards leisure and group outings rather than pure competition.

The centre offers individual hire sessions, one-hour endurance races, group formats and children's birthdays, as well as the option to drive solo on the track. A terrace and a catering corner let you take a break between heats. The track is open much of the week, from Monday to Sunday with a Tuesday closure, and extended hours at the weekend.

Lelystad is a city born from the sea: built on polders reclaimed from the former Zuiderzee, it is surrounded by water, between the Markermeer and the IJsselmeer. You will find the marina, the replica of the Batavia ship and the Bataviastad outlet. Kartcentrum Lelystad adds an open-air sporting activity, easy to slot into a day in this flat, airy region of the central Netherlands, where the wind is part of the scenery. Its setting on the edge of the polders, swept by open air, gives the sessions a particular flavour, far from the enclosed karting of shopping centres.
