Extreme Kart

In Herselt, in the Antwerp Campine, Extreme Kart lays out a covered asphalt track of four hundred and fifty metres, built for speed. The karts are petrol-powered, SODI RT10s fitted with Honda two-hundred-and-seventy-cc engines, hydraulic brakes and steering-wheel lap timing, for an experience close to Formula 1 racing. Helmet, overalls and gloves are provided.

Access is from twelve years, provided you can reach the pedals comfortably, with the youngest needing parental consent. The centre has showers, changing rooms, an approved ventilation system and a catering area. Tapering prices reward those who string several sessions together in a day, which makes it a favourite with groups of friends out to settle scores.

Herselt is a green municipality of Antwerp province, in the Campine, that region of woods, heath and sand stretching towards the Dutch border. A short way from Aarschot and Westerlo, it lies in a quiet, wooded area popular for walks. Extreme Kart adds a dose of motorsport under cover, workable all year and easy to reach from the main routes of central Flanders. The track opens mainly in the evening and at weekends, and booking is advised for groups who want to string heats together without waiting.
