Gencar Gokartpálya Kisszállás

In Kisszállás, in the south of the Hungarian Great Plain, Gencar runs an open-air karting track out in the countryside, away from the big towns. The outdoor layout is driven in the open air, in a landscape typical of the plain, and people gather as a family or with friends to string together timed laps. It is the brand's second site, after the one in Békés, in this quiet part of the country.

Karting stays open to all, with no licence or experience: a briefing, a helmet, and you head off to find your best lap. The short format suits beginners as much as regulars working on their lines, and groups happily set up short heats to sort out the drivers. As the activity takes place outdoors, it is best to check opening times by season before coming. People rarely leave after a single run, the urge to do better soon taking over.

Kisszállás is a village in Bács-Kiskun county, in southern Hungary, close to Kiskunhalas, a town known for its traditional lace. The region, near the Serbian border, rolls out the typical landscapes of the Great Plain, its lonely farms, its ponds and its orchards. The Kiskunság national park, a mosaic of salt steppes and wetlands listed by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve, is not far. The region is reached by road from Budapest or Szeged, in a part of the country spared from mass tourism.
