GoKart Farm

In Csömör, on the north-eastern edge of Budapest, GoKart Farm offers an open-air karting track in the countryside, in a green setting. The outdoor layout, without tyre walls, is driven in the open air on RIMO EVO6 petrol karts, and people gather as a family or with friends to string together timed laps. It is a friendly venue that also runs amateur championships and summer camps for children aged six to sixteen.

Karting stays open to all, with no licence or experience: a briefing, a helmet, and you head off to find your best lap. Closed shoes are required to drive, and a climate-controlled café lets you settle between runs. The format suits families as much as groups of friends out to race, and people happily come back to beat their time. As the activity takes place outdoors, it is best to check opening times by season, with the season opening in spring.

Csömör is a residential village north-east of the Budapest conurbation, at the foot of the Gödöllő hills. Close by, the town of Gödöllő is home to the superb Baroque Grassalkovich palace, the former summer residence of Empress Elisabeth, the famous Sisi, one of the largest Baroque palaces in Hungary. The forests and trails of the surroundings invite a walk, and Budapest, with its Parliament, Buda Castle and thermal baths, is half an hour away by road, which puts GoKart Farm within reach of an outing from the capital.
