Gokart Sopron Racing Arena
About
In Sopron, in western Hungary, right by the Austrian border, Racing Arena spreads a large open-air circuit over eight thousand square metres, with four possible track configurations. You drive a fleet of about thirty RIMO karts with Honda petrol engines, enough for real races among friends. The variety of layouts, some over a kilometre long, lets you vary the fun from one visit to the next.
Karting stays open to all, with no licence or experience: a briefing, a helmet, and you head off to find your best lap. Access is open to drivers from the age of ten, and the large site offers fine chances to overtake and to build up speed. It is a serious venue, built for thrill-seekers, and online booking is advised. As the activity takes place outdoors, it is best to check opening times by season before coming.
Sopron is one of the finest towns in western Hungary, famous for its medieval old town, its watchtower and its colourful lanes, remarkably well preserved. Nicknamed the most loyal town, it charms with its heritage and its closeness to Austria, minutes from the border. Lake Fertő, shared with Austria and UNESCO-listed, and the wooded hills of the surroundings round out the discovery. Sopron is easy to reach by road from Vienna and from Győr, in a peaceful region on the doorstep of central Europe.
