Kőszegi Karting Track

In Kőszeg, in western Hungary, right by the Austrian border, the Kőszegi Karting Track offers a technical open-air track of four hundred metres, open to all, children included. You drive petrol karts here, on a demanding layout that asks you to manage your braking well and to work on your lines. It is a venue appreciated in this charming little medieval town, a short distance from the Alpokalja hills.

Karting stays open to all, with no licence or experience: a briefing, a helmet, and you head off to find your best lap. The technical nature of the layout makes it a playground appreciated by drivers who like precision, while beginners quickly find their feet. Everyone tries to beat the clock, and people happily come back to improve their time. As the activity takes place outdoors, it is best to check opening times by season before coming.

Kőszeg is one of the finest medieval towns in Hungary, famous for its Jurisics castle and the heroic siege it withstood against the Ottomans in 1532. Its central square with colourful houses, its cobbled lanes and its ramparts make it a preserved gem, at the foot of the mountains that herald the Alps. Austria is minutes away, and Sopron and Szombathely round out the discovery. The region is reached by road from Győr or Vienna, in a peaceful and green part of the west of the country.
