Kartbahn-Treff
About
In Feldkirch, in Vorarlberg at the western tip of Austria, the Kartbahn-Treff lays out an indoor track of three hundred and sixty metres billed as a real speed line. The karts run on ethanol, with four-stroke Honda engines of two hundred cubic centimetres, fitted with a catalytic converter, of about six and a half horsepower, and throttled models for children. You drive from the age of twelve, from eight for the youngest on dedicated slots.
Fully indoors, the track runs in all weather, with public sessions needing no booking on Sundays and holidays, and by booking the rest of the time. A large bistro of more than four hundred seats lets you extend the visit, which makes it a popular address for groups, birthdays and corporate events. It is an easy-going sporting outing, sheltered from the mountain weather.
Feldkirch is one of the loveliest towns of Vorarlberg, with its medieval old town and its Schattenburg castle watching over the roofs, at the meeting point of Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The Alpine Rhine valley, between mountains and borders, draws visitors. The Kartbahn-Treff adds a dose of indoor motorsport, welcome in this three-country region. The choice of ethanol and catalytic engines makes it one of the cleanest indoor tracks in the region, and its large bistro along with its setting at the crossroads of three countries make it a popular stop for families and groups coming from Austria, Switzerland and nearby Liechtenstein alike.
