Kartbahn Fimmelsberg

In Amlikon-Bissegg, in the canton of Thurgau, the Kartbahn Fimmelsberg lays out a covered layout of four hundred and twenty metres in a hall of four thousand square metres. You drive petrol karts there, which reach between forty and sixty kilometres an hour, up to ten on track at once. It is one of the great indoor tracks in eastern Switzerland, built to drive under cover all year round.

The size of the hall leaves room to launch the kart and work on your lines, far from small cramped tracks. The track welcomes group outings, birthdays and race evenings, with regular events such as a monthly thirty-lap round reserved for drivers from sixteen. The mood stays that of a real sports track, open to beginners and regulars alike.

Thurgau is a green canton of orchards and hills, set on the shore of Lake Constance, the largest body of water shared between Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Frauenfeld, the capital, and the lakeshore are not far. The Kartbahn Fimmelsberg adds a dose of indoor motorsport there, welcome when the eastern weather turns.

The track is booked in advance, in a group or individually, and offers timed race formats that spice up outings among friends or colleagues. The petrol engine brings the noise and the feel of traditional karting, prized by fans. Between Lake Constance, its harbours and its medieval towns such as Steckborn, Thurgau offers plenty to extend the day by the water after the laps.
