Kartódromo do Montijo

In Montijo, on the southern bank of the Tagus facing Lisbon, the Kartódromo do Montijo spreads over a large complex of more than fifty-six thousand square metres and offers two separate tracks. The Racing track takes drivers from age thirteen on Sodikart RX8 with Honda petrol engines of two hundred and seventy cubic centimetres, while the Kids track opens from age four with electric karts. Both layouts run under cover or in the open air depending on conditions.

Karting stays open to everyone, no licence or experience needed: a briefing, a helmet, and off you go chasing your best lap. The two tracks let the whole family drive, from the youngest on the children's track to adults on the Racing layout, with a balaclava required under the helmet. Sessions last a quarter of an hour, and people happily return to beat their time. The exclusive track is reserved for adult drivers.

Montijo is a town on the southern bank of the Tagus, linked to Lisbon by the great Vasco da Gama bridge, one of the longest in Europe. The region, between the Tagus estuary and the Ribatejo plains, is known for its rice fields, its salt pans and its migratory bird reserves. The capital, with its hills, its trams and its monuments, is about twenty minutes away. Montijo is easily reached by motorway from Lisbon or the south of the country.
