Kartodromo Iscaro

At the foot of the Partenio, in Chianche in the province of Avellino in Campania, the Kartodromo Iscaro runs a 900-metre outdoor track in the Irpinia hills. The site sits in a picturesque setting typical of the Irpinia: the first Apennine heights, chestnut woods (the Irpinia is famous for its IGP chestnut), meadows, olive groves and views over the Partenio and Vergine massifs. It is used by Avellino locals for outings with friends and by Irpinia-Sannio holiday-makers looking for a motorsport break in an Apennine rural setting.

The outdoor track stretches over 900 metres, a layout suited to adult and experienced drivers, in the picturesque setting of the Irpinia. Several engine sizes are available, with higher-powered karts for regulars used to timed sessions. Conditions follow the Irpinia continental climate: drier and faster in summer, more demanding on rainy autumn days and during the cold months (the Irpinia is the coldest area in Campania). The site hosts enthusiast sessions, motorsport-focused stag and hen groups, corporate events and club days from the Avellino area.

Chianche is twenty-five minutes from Avellino, one hour from Naples and one hour from Benevento. The region offers plenty more to see: the historic centre of Avellino and the Cathedral, the Partenio Regional Park (a nature reserve with the famous Caudine Gorge), the Castello Lancellotti in Lauro, the Mefite di Valle d'Ansanto ancient Oscan sanctuary, Mirabella Eclano and the Obelisk, Montella and the Sanctuary of Blessed Generoso, Avella and its Roman remains, or a side trip to the Sannio (Benevento and the Arch of Trajan), Pompeii UNESCO or the Amalfi Coast UNESCO. Karting in Chianche is a sport option for Irpinia travellers.
