Tisza-Ring Gokart

In Poroszló, by Lake Tisza, in north-eastern Hungary, the Tisza-Ring offers an open-air karting track open to all. The outdoor layout is driven in the open air, in one of the country's great ecotourism spots, which makes it a welcome sporting outing between activities by the water. People come as a family or with friends to string together timed laps.

Karting is about the simple fun of racing: a briefing, a helmet, and everyone heads off to post their best time. The short format suits beginners as much as regulars working on their lines, and groups happily set up short heats to sort out the drivers. Poroszló is the gateway to Lake Tisza, the second largest lake in Hungary, a vast body of water created by a dam on the Tisza and now a paradise for birds and nature lovers. The Lake Tisza Ecocentre, with one of the largest freshwater aquariums in Europe, draws many visitors, as do boat trips through the branches of the lake. The Hortobágy national park, UNESCO-listed, is not far. The region is reached by road from Budapest or Eger, at the heart of unspoilt nature.
