Kart Center Heiligenstadt

Kart Center Heiligenstadt operates at 37 Auf der Rinne, in Heilbad Heiligenstadt, in the Eichsfeld district, on a mixed facility that combines a covered track and an outdoor layout, presented by the management as the longest combined indoor-outdoor track in the region. The Sodi-Kart fleet includes two-seaters and a kart specially fitted for drivers with disabilities, an inclusive approach still rare in the sector.

On the technical side, digital timing measures to the thousandth of a second, the covered paddock is used to prepare the karts, a spectator area follows the times live on a big screen, a bistro provides catering and GoPros can be hired to film your laps. Practice tickets range from 17 to 19 euros for 10 minutes, the Wednesday deal offers 30 minutes at 35 euros, and organised races start at 360 euros for groups of 8 to 10. Access is from age 12, with younger drivers going through the in-house karting school. The track opens Wednesday to Friday 4pm to 8pm, Saturday 2pm to 9pm and Sunday 2pm to 8pm, closed Monday and Tuesday.

Heilbad Heiligenstadt is the capital of the Eichsfeld district, in northern Thuringia, 50 km north-west of Göttingen, 70 km south-west of Nordhausen and 80 km east of Kassel. A spa town carrying the Heilbad label, it keeps its medieval centre and its Gothic Saint Martin church. The Hainich National Park, 30 km to the south, holds a UNESCO-listed primeval beech forest and a 530 m canopy walk, and the Wartburg, a UNESCO castle that sheltered Martin Luther in 1521, is 60 km to the south-west.
