Midland Karting and Paintball
About
In Edgeworthstown, in County Longford at the heart of the Irish Midlands, the Midland Karting lays out an outdoor track of one thousand one hundred metres, fully floodlit to drive even in winter. The length of the layout makes it a fast circuit, in the open, leaving room to build up speed. Drivers in a single-seat kart must be at least one metre forty-three tall, while the two-seater is driven from the age of eighteen.
Beyond karting, the site offers paintball and lends itself to corporate outings, family days, birthdays and stag and hen parties, with arrive-and-drive sessions as well as endurance racing. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, with hours that vary in winter, it welcomes groups as well as drivers out after the clock on a large open-air layout. The full floodlighting of the layout changes things in winter, when night falls early: you drive by night as well as by day, on a large open circuit where the length really lets you build up speed among friends or in an endurance race.
Edgeworthstown takes its name from the Edgeworth family, whose writer Maria Edgeworth left her mark on Irish literature. At the heart of the Midlands, between bogs, lakes and the Shannon valley, County Longford lends itself to nature escapes, not far from Lough Ree. At the heart of County Longford, the Midland Karting adds a dose of open-air motorsport, open much of the year.
