Miskolc Gokart Arena

In Miskolc, in north-eastern Hungary, the Miskolc Gokart Arena offers a covered track of about five hundred metres, drivable whatever the weather. You drive petrol karts here, on a long indoor layout that leaves real chances to overtake and to build up speed, a change from the usual small covered circuits. Children are welcome too, which makes it an outing open to the whole family.

Karting stays open to all, with no licence or experience: a briefing, a helmet, and you head off to find your best lap on the covered layout. The length of the track delights beginners trying it out as much as confident drivers, and groups happily set up close races. Everyone tries to set the best time, and people happily come back to beat it, sheltered from the weather. For opening times and prices, it is best to check before coming.

Miskolc is the large city of north-eastern Hungary, backed by the Bükk massif. It charms with its historic tram, its busy university and the Avas lookout hill, but above all with its surroundings: the cave baths of Miskolctapolca, where you swim in a natural cavity, the medieval Diósgyőr castle and the green valley of Lillafüred with its waterfall. The city is reached by the M3 motorway from Budapest, in about two hours, which makes it a fine stop in the north of the country.
