Kart-Center Erfurt has run, since 2020, a mixed facility that combines a covered track and an outdoor layout, for about 800 metres in total, in the capital of Thuringia. The fleet is complete: 6.5 hp HK7 Hubi karts for adults, 5.5 hp limited karts for children, 9 hp karts for competition on proof of experience, two-seat karts for driving in a pair and a kart specially fitted for drivers with disabilities, the second of its kind in Thuringia after Heiligenstadt.
On the technical side, an accurate timing system and big screens display positions and best times live, a KartWalk gantry overlooks the track for spectators, and a 120-seat bistro sits next to billiards, darts and air hockey. The main track takes up to 25 karts at once. The hours vary by day and season, and checking the official portal in advance is essential, with booking advised for weekends and the Thuringia school holidays.
Erfurt is the capital of Thuringia, 80 km west of Leipzig, 100 km north-east of Frankfurt and 200 km south-west of Berlin. The city gathers a rare medieval heritage: the Gothic Mariendom at the top of its 70 steps, the neighbouring Severikirche, and the Krämerbrücke, the longest inhabited bridge in Europe still occupied, with its 32 houses. The Augustinerkloster saw Martin Luther as a monk between 1505 and 1511, and the Petersberg citadel overlooks the town. Weimar and its German classicism, UNESCO-listed, are 20 km to the east, the Wartburg at Eisenach 60 km to the west, and the Hainich National Park, UNESCO-listed, 50 km to the north-west.
