Raceland Mykonos
About
On the road to Ano Mera, in the centre of the island of Mykonos in the Cyclades, Raceland Mykonos lays out an open-air karting track of eight hundred metres. The fleet is wide: GT5 karts of two hundred cubic centimetres topping out at fifty kilometres an hour, GT4 of two hundred and seventy pushing to seventy, GT4R of three hundred and ninety, two-seaters and karts for children. You drive under the Aegean sun, from the age of seven.
The track opens very widely, from ten in the morning to three in the morning, to the rhythm of the island's lively nights. Sessions last about ten minutes and are taken on a walk-in basis, with no booking, and the track can also be hired privately for a group. It is a welcome sporting break on an island known above all for its beaches and its nightlife.
Mykonos is one of the most cosmopolitan destinations in Greece, famous for its windmills, its white Chora and its Little Venice quarter, and for the nearness of the ancient island of Delos. Ano Mera, inland, is its second village, quieter than the port. Raceland Mykonos adds a thrill-seeking activity, well apart in the island's leisure scene. With its ten-minute sessions taken without booking and its opening into the small hours, the track keeps pace with Mykonos, and the range of karts, from the children's model to the fastest GT4R, lets every member of a group find their engine size.
